WILMINGTON -- The digital TV expert at WECT is Chief Engineer Dan Ullmer. And this is how he's answering some of the latest batch of big switch questions called into our hotline.
The first caller wants to now how many channels you can get on the converter box.
According to Dan, this will depend on how good your antenna is and where it is pointed. You can usually receive 11 channels from 5 broadcasters in Wilmington with a good UHF antenna.
Another caller asks, "Are we going to be able to pick up the digital single during a hurricane?"
Dan says, "Yes, DTV will be broadcasting during hurricanes and should be even more reliable because the equipment is much newer and more reliable."
Betty said she was trying to find where she can get a coupon for the converter box because she doesn't have a computer.
Applications for coupons are available in all of the major stores selling electronics and at area TV stations.
A different Betty asked if there is going to be another expo for the big switch.
The answer to that is yes. WECT is sponsoring a free DTV shindig at the Coastline Convention Center in Wilmington on August 28.
Stay tuned for more information on that event in the future.
