Teenage girl recovers after possible shark bite

EMERALD ISLE -- A 14-year-old Emerald Isle girl is back at home after being bitten by what may have been a shark.

Around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Bailegh Foster was swimming in the ocean when she thought she stepped on an oyster shell and cut her foot.

However, after feeling a stabbing pain in her foot and what she calls a "quick release," she knew she had probably been bitten by a shark.

Foster says she ran out of the water screaming and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. She had surgery to repair several ligaments and tendons in her foot.  Doctors say she should make a full recovery.

Foster admits she shouldn't have been swimming at night.
