WILMINGTON -- As the date of the big switch to digital TV draws near, broadcasters are stepping up their efforts to reach their audiences with the critical information.
Now, that includes Spanish speaking audiences.
A public service announcement from the FCC for the switch to digital broadcasting in the area is mixed into the sound of music from Wilmington's only Spanish language radio station, LA Gran D.
Jeff Sanchez said his audience includes many who don't have cable or satellite service, or one of the new digital TVs. So, it's critical that along with the ranchera music they hear the announcement.
The ad isn't the only effort by the FCC to reach Hispanic TV viewers.
The government is also distributing information in Spanish at events and community centers around the region.
