WILMINGTON -- The Better Business Bureau says a new offer is closer to a rip-offer.
A company is trying to take advantage of the switch to digital television that takes place in our market September 8.
The ads have started popping up all over the country promising a free digital-TV converter box. They say there's no need for a government coupon. Just pay $59 for the warranty plus shipping.
The government coupons knock $40 off the price of a converter box, lowering your out of pocket expense to $10-$20 in most cases.
The Better Business Bureau warns to ignore ads about free DTV converters and say to apply for the government coupon.
