WILMINGTON -- Dozens of TV viewers in the Wilmington area are taking steps to be ready for the big switch to digital broadcasting.
A series of events took place as part of, what New Hanover County is calling, DTV Coupon Day.
The First Baptist Missionary Church on North Fifth Avenue was one of the locations. They are a good example of how counties are stepping up to help their residents prepare for the big switch.
The church held a free, informational event to help TV viewers prepare for the switch to digital broadcasting on September 8.
The government representatives held an event early Wednesday morning at the Senior Center in Wilmington.
The goal is to help residents, particularly the elderly and disabled, apply for a $40 coupon toward the purchase of a digital converter box.
You need one of those boxes if you have a TV that's not hooked to cable or satellite and isn't one of the new digital ready models.
Don't worry if you missed this event, there will be many more opportunities to get your questions answered at events, festivals, and senior centers in the weeks to come.
