OCEAN ISLE BEACH -- The high price of gas isn't stopping one of the area's biggest fishing tournaments.
The Ocean Isle Fishing Center is hosting the Jolly Mon King Classic.
About 360 people entered last year, each one chasing the biggest mackerel in the water.
Organizers hope gas prices don't cut the field down for this year's event.
"With all the pessimism with fuel prices, at this point it's very early in our registration. Things are the same as last year, but we won't know until this evening (Friday)," said event coordinator Grant McMullan.
Registration for the tournament ends at 9:00pm Friday. Captains have a choice whether they would like to fish Saturday or Sunday.
The tournament wraps up Sunday night with an awards ceremony.
