recipe-Baker’s Clay

This clay is best made fresh before each work session, because it doesn’t keep well.

What you need:

4 cups of flour

1 cup of salt

1 1/2 cup of warm water

What you do:

Mix flour and salt together. Slowly add water, stirring until it becomes stiff; then use your hands to knead the mixture. Knead thoroughly for at least 5 minutes on the table top, adding flour as needed.

To bake:

Finished projects can be baked at 300º for about 30 minutes. Projects that are 1/2”-2” thick need to bake at 300º for at least an hour. If the item browns too quickly, cover with foil and finish baking.

Projects can be decorated with paint, markers or watercolors. To seal the project, coat with clear nail polish or another acrylic finish.

•       To make colored play dough, add food coloring to water BEFORE adding to dry mixture.
