TYRELL COUNTY -- Firefighters have an aggressive plan to attack the wildfires burning in the northeastern part of the state.
They are planning to burn harvested wheat fields to help control the fire burning in and around the Pocosin Lakes national Wildlife Refuge.
So far, the flames have burned 40 thousand acres and is about 40% contained.
Officials are concerned about wind shifts.
The fire started more than a week ago from lightning.
No homes have been damaged at this time.
