WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Several of the area's largest electronics stores are preparing to help customers make the big switch to digital TV early.
Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission announced that the Wilmington television market would be the first in the country to go completely digital.
While TV stations elsewhere make the switch in February, Wilmington will go digital in September.
It is a trial run, so broadcasters and government officials can find out if TV viewers are confused by the switch, or left without service.
If you have cable or satellite service your television will not be affected by the switch.
