Suspended Brunswick County Sheriff is Still Getting Paid

BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Brunswick County Sheriff Ron Hewett may be suspended, but he is still getting the green.

Thursday, bimonthly checks from the county were issued.

The standard policy is that if a county employee doesn't work, they don't get paid.

However, according to the county attorney, Hewett received his check because he is an elected official.

The sheriff was suspended in late March for allegations by his employees, and he is facing four felony charges.

Hewett will be back in court May 5 for his next hearing on his possible removal from office.
