RALEIGH -- Friday, lawyers in the trial of the former Wilmington lawmaker, Thomas Wright, made their closing arguments to the jury.
Wright is accused of fraud and has already been booted out of the State Legislature. Sandra Spaulding Hughes will temporarily replace Wright until the May Primary.
There was no verdict on Friday, and the deliberation will continue on Monday.
The Wilmington Democrat is accused of fraudulently obtaining and misusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans and donations.
This week, jurors have heard much of the same evidence state lawmakers heard before they kicked Wright out of the General Assembly.
Wright could go to prison if the jury finds him guilty
