WILMINGTON -- Mayor Bill Saffo presented the State of the City address late Tuesday afternoon. In it, he highlighted several issues including the ailing sewer system and the new convention center.
Last January, Saffo touted millions of dollars to be spent on the sewer system, work that is continuing today. Saffo says the city will do whatever it takes to the get the system fixed.
As for the convention center, ground has been broken, but the project is moving forward without a hotel developer.
This was Saffo's first State of the City address as an elected official. Last year, he delivered the speech while fulfilling the term of former mayor Spence Broadhurst.
