Two Rival High Schools Take to the Court on Friday

COLUMBUS COUNTY -- On Friday night, the East Columbus Gators will take on rival team, the Whiteville High Wolf Pack. School officials say security is going to be tight.

The basketball showdown will take place at East Columbus High School and school officials say everyone will have to pass through metal detectors.

The last time East Columbus and Whiteville High played against each other, violence erupted after the game at a gas station, wounding one student and killing 22-year-old Darnell Frink.

The assistant principal told WECT he expects no incidents at Friday's game.

The game will begin around 7 p.m. on Friday.
