Two Men Arrested in Wilmington Drug Bust

WILMINGTON -- Wilmington police have two men in custody after seizing over 17 pounds of marijuana on Wednesday night.

The arrests were the results of an extensive joint investigation with the State Bureau of Investigation.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the drug bust. Melvin Antonio Galban, 31-years-old has been charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and related drug charges.

Galban is being held at the New Hanover County jail on $30,000 secured bond.

Jose Echeverria, 44-years-old, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana.

As of Wednesday evening, Echeverria was being held on $5,000 secured bond.

The drugs were seized from Galban's residence on Carolina Beach Road, and from a vehicle parked in the 2600 block of Carolina Beach Road.

    Authorities believe Stacie Mendoza, a waitress, used her friendship with Kenneth Coyle to get access to his financial information.
