RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK -- North Carolina public television has offered to host three hour-long forums next year for gubernatorial candidates heading into the May primary.
UNC-TV has told the candidates it will host forums Jan. 10 on economic issues, Feb. 7 on health care and April 24 on education.
The forums will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. on a UNC digital channel and rebroadcast at 10 p.m. on the traditional UNC-TV network.
State Treasurer Richard Moore and Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue have announced their bids for the Democratic nomination. Republican candidates to date include attorney Bill Graham, former Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr and state Sen. Fred Smith.
