BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- State forest officials are hoping to meet with residents about the smokey conditions resulting from an ongoing brush fire that started on Monday.
With little rain, the smoke is still visible and can be smelled for miles.
A road sign on highway 17 urges drivers to be cautious of the heavy smoke.
Residents who live just yards from the fire tell us that in the morning, the smoke is so thick that it looks like fog.
Forest officials say it may take weeks for the smoke to finally clear.
The Forest Service is encouraging all residents to attend a meeting on Saturday at 11 a.m. to discuss the fire and smoke concerns. The meeting will be held a Union Elementary School where experts will be on hand to answer questions.
