WHITE HOUSE -- The White House says there was no cover-up of the latest presidential flub, even though it didn't appear in the initial transcript.
Talking about the importance of education on Thursday at a NewYork City school, President Bush made the mistake of saying "childrens do learn."
It was a particularly embarrassing gaffe given that he was surrounded by young students and educators.
But it wasn't initially reflected in the official White House transcript, which quoted Bush as saying, properly, that "children do learn."
The new White House press secretary made sure the record was set straight. Dana Perino ordered that the transcript be amended to include the flub.
She says the integrity of the transcripts is very important.
She also notes that in public speaking, everyone has "slip-ups from time to time."
