WILMINGTON -- The majority of the WECT viewing area is under extreme drought conditions.
While many people were hoping Tropical Storm Gabrielle would bring relief, there were only trace amounts of rain this weekend.
Wilmington is currently under a voluntary water restriction.
People can still wash their cars and water their lawns without facing penalities.
City officials say the water campaign seems to be working and people are conserving.
However, if we don't get signifigant rainfall in the next several weeks, restrictions may become mandatory.
