BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Preliminary Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) test results for Brunswick County Schools have been released and show some improvement over last year's results.
Seven out of 16 schools met 100% of their AYP goals, compared to four schools making AYP in 2006.
Jessie Mae Monroe, North Brunswick High, South Brunswick High, South Brunswick Middle, Southport Elementary, Union Elementary and Virginia Williamson Elementary met 100% of their AYP goals.
Belville Elementary, Bolivia Elementary, Waccamaw School and Brunswick County Academy missed AYP by one target goal.
West Brunswick High missed AYP by two target goals.
Leland Middle, Lincoln Elementary and Supply Elementary missed AYP by three target goals, while Shallotte Middle missed by four target goals.
The official and final ABC and AYP results for the school system will be released by the North Carolina State Board of Education by September 6, 2007. At that time the school system will be able to report results in terms of sub-group performance in the areas of reading and mathematics.
