WILMINGTON -- There is an update on the three pygmy killer whales beached in North Myrtle Beach on Wednesday morning.
Preliminary test results show all three whales were very sick.
Marine biologists at UNCW are testing one of the whales; the other two are at a lab in Charleston.
Biologists say all three suffered from a lung disease and swollen lymph nodes.
The cause of the illness has yet to be pin pointed, but scientists say it could be a virus.
Results from blood work and other specialized tests should be back in a few weeks.
