Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

NEW BERN -- New Bern Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a home invasion at 202 Eighth Street, where a 64-year-old woman was beaten with a hammer on August 11, 2007. 

She was treated and released from the hospital.  The victim's purse and car were stolen.

Bradley Darryl Francis of Wilmington was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny after breaking and entering and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Francis was located in Greenville, N.C. where the victim's car was also recovered. 

The investigation revealed that Francis may be involved in similar incidents in New Bern during the past week.

Francis is being held under a $220,000 bond, and is scheduled to make a first appearance in court on Monday.
