NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- The New Hanover County Schools will receive $253,456.57 to aid with Internet access and telecommunication services.
"This is great news for the New Hanover County Schools and the students they serve. Telecommunications are an integral part of the curriculum in the classrooms, and many schools cannot afford the technology that is available. Today's students are tomorrow's workforce, and this discount will afford them an even better education as the prepare for the future," stated U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre.
The federal funding was awarded under the "E-rate" program administered by Universal Service Administrative Company. Universal Service Administrative Company is a non-profit that is responsible for providing every state in the nation with access to affordable telecommunications services through the Universal Service Fund.
