Retired Postman Honored

CASTLE HAYNE-- It wasn't rain, sleet, or snow that stopped him-- he simply retired.

Now a former Castle Hayne postal worker is being honored for his years of service.

Castle Hayne's post office has moved locations throughout the years, with most of them not far from where the current one stands on Holly Shelter road.

That's where 84 year-old Cornelius Meyer was awarded a certificate of appreciation Wednesday.

He worked for 22 years as a rural carrier before retiring in the 1970's.
