Economist Sees Bright Future for Wilmington

WILMINGTON-- One of the area's top economists is out with his annual forecast-- and it's a rosy view.

Professor William Hall is the senior economist at UNCW.

Every year he looks into the future of the local economy and makes some predictions.

Thursday he said the economies in New Hanover, Brunswick , and Pender counties are expected to grow by 7 percent this year and 6 percent next year--  much faster than the nation as a whole.

Hall expects growth in the local business sector and looks for many newcomers to relocate to the Port City and vicinity. He predicts that while the pace of growth will be steady, it will not be overwhelming.
