The back windows of several cars have been shot at with pellet guns.
Police in Southport and Oak Island, as well as the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department, received dozens of calls about the drive-by shootings.
Southport was the hardest hit with 11 cars and one business targeted. Oak Island had six reports of shattered windows.
Investigators say the shooter faces a long list of misdemeanor charges as well as a felon charge for shooting into one car that was occupied.
"Even though it's not a rifle or a high velocity gun or a 40 caliber, it could still harm someone," said Southport Police Chief J.V. Dove.
Chief Dove is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest. Call (910) 457-7911 if you have any information.
