Tree Ordinance Discussed in Oak Island

-- There's an effort in Oak Island to save the trees.

In 2005, officials put an ordinance into place that protected mature trees from being torn down for new developments. However, it was done away with shortly after taking effect.

At Tuesday night's town council meeting, officals will talk about putting it back into place, but they're asking for residents' opinions.

No decision will be made Tuesday. Officials say that's still several weeks away.
