Thalian Hall Fundraiser for New Playhouse

-- New sketches are on display in the lobby of Thalian Hall in downtown Wilmington, depicting some major changes ahead.

The Thalian Board wants to build a new playhouse. It will seat up to 400 people and be used for theater performances, concerts, and dinners.

There are also plans for renovations to the current facility, including new theater seats and improvements to the lighting and sound system.

A fundraiser this weekend on the Henrietta III could go a long way to paying for these upgrades.

"In order for us to be able to keep the doors open and to help our rental clients maintain below the average market ticket prices, we have to seek funds from the community," said Jennifer Czechlewski with Thalian Hall.

The Showboat Gambler Gala will take place Saturday, May 19 at 6:30pm.  The evening will include a cruise on the Henrietta III, buffet dinner, live entertainment, a DJ, poker and blackjack tables, dancing, a silent auction, and an open bar.  Tickets can be purchased by calling (910) 343-4799 or click here.
