WILMINGTON -- They've been in class since August, but now the students of Isaac Bear Early College High School finally have a building to call their own.
Students cut the ribbon Monday on their new school near UNCW. The location is ideal for the school, which combines high school and college to give students a jump-start on their degree.
Until now, the students have shared Snipes Elementary School, but officials say the new location will give them some room to breathe and learn.
"We are paving the path for them to go as smoothly as possible with the help of UNCW and the new schools project. We will make sure that all of these students make it through college," said Principal Sherry Broome.
Another early college high school associated with Cape Fear Community College is scheduled to open this fall.
