-- As the investigation continues into the death of a Wilmington man shot by police, Phillipe McIver's family laid him to rest Friday afternoon.
Hundreds showed up to Union Missionary Baptist Church where McIver's service began. That service lasted about two hours, and many friends in attendance wore T-shirts with McIver's picture on them.
Wilmington police led a free procession from the church to Calvary graveyard where McIver was laid to rest.
Since the shooting, McIver's family and friends have held many peaceful marches.
City officials have met with community leaders to keep the lines of communication open in this case.
The SBI is handling this investigation. A report is expected in the near future.
