JACKSONVILLE -- Phillipe McIver was hit by five or six bullets, and two of those shots had the potential to kill him, Medical Examiner William Kelly told WECT News.
Kelly, from Onslow Memorial Hospital, says McIver was shot in the chest and in the head, and either of those shots may have been deadly. All the shots appeared to be fired from a distance, Kelly said.
Kelly does not test for caliber of bullets or gun powder residue.
The State Bureau of Investigations is still investigating the Thursday night shooting between McIver and two Wilmington police officers.
