WILMINGTON-- Two choirs came together Sunday to start a new tradition in celebration of Black History Month. The Wilmington Community Choir and The Wilmington Choral Society performed the benefit concert.
The concert was also a fundraiser for Elderhaus. Organizers say they hope it will start a long tradition in Wilmington.
"We wanted to have this opportunity during Black History Month to let folks know that while things may not be where they ought to be, with music it's a common denominator, and it soothes a savage beast. We can always come together and sing because it's a universal language," said organizer Linda Pearce.
The two groups hope to perform together again April 30 at the Wilmington Rotary.
