-- A popular Wilmington restaurant won't be serving up sweet treats anymore. The Kohl's custard shop in Monkey Junction is closed and won't reopen.
A restaurant manager says the property has been sold to KFC. The billboard in front of the building says the equipment to make milkshakes and hamburgers is for sale.
While the Monkey Junction Kohl's is closed, other locations will remain in business. The Kohl's website indicates the popular Wrightsville Beach location will open in March.
Kohl's is known for its tasty custard, among other food, and Wednesday evening several people drove into the empty parking lot wondering what was going on.
"I was totally floored, you know, had no indication, no idea. I came here to get their strawberry shortcake and a big burger after work and I couldn't believe it," says Michael Barbacow.
