WILMINGTON -- Democrats in New Hanover County say they are already preparing to support a grass roots effort for John Edwards' presidential campaign.
The county's Democratic headquarters president says Edwards already has support from many people in North Carolina after his vice presidential campaign, and he is a familiar face for people in the area.
Local political analysts say being a southerner will put him ahead of other potential Democratic candidates. The past three Democratic presidents have all been from the south.
Democrats say the support was here a few years ago, and it is likely to surface again as Edwards' campaign gains momentum.
