PENDER COUNTY -- A couple of inches of rain has the northeast Cape Fear River rising again.
The area east of Burgaw only saw an inch and a half to 2 1/2 inches of rain over the weekend, but it was enough to send the river spilling over its banks, buckling a bridge at a boat ramp on Whitestocking Road.
Many residents in the area have been through it before and have their boats on standby if they can't get through with their cars.
While they don't expect it to be nearly as bad as it has been in the past, some say enough is enough. Residents also say they are crossing their fingers that no more rain is on the way.
