PENDER COUNTY -- After two nights in some Pender County woods, two North Carolina bear hunters were rescued early Friday morning.
Bob Toth and Henry Fields were chasing a bear deep into the thick woods when they realized it was getting dark and foggy with no way out.
Volunteers and rescue squads came in on the second night to plow through the woods and try to reach the two men.
Fields is diabetic, and after two days with no food and water, his condition was worsening. He says it was a box of Tic Tacs that saved the day. The two men also drank puddle water to prevent getting dehydrated.
