Dredging Approved for Ocean Isle Beach

OCEAN ISLE BEACH -- The sand is moving on Ocean Isle Beach, and even more help for the battered beach is on the way.

The Army Corps of Engineers is pumping sand on the east end of the beach.

As that renourishment project is underway, the town has accepted a bid for additional dredging. Norfolk Dredging Company's proposal was approved at Tuesday's town meeting. That work has not started yet.

Back in October, commissioners approved close to $60,000 for engineering work on the east end of the beach not covered by federal funds.
