PENDER COUNTY -- Last week the water in the River Bend Drive and Northeast Drive area was so high, boats were the only transportation. Now, as the river falls below flood stage, the neighborhood is looking more car friendly.
With solid land for walking instead of water for wading, Pender County residents are taking the time to focus on the good times that come from life along the river.
Several days ago, Croomsbridge Road was tough to travel on, but now the water is gone. And while the flooding is a frustration for residents, those who are in the business of predicting learn something new every time the Northeast Cape Fear River overflows its banks.
The water the storm left behind is now disappearing, but the knowledge learned from this flood should help the experts give residents more warning the next time the river is rising.
