People in Wilmington Prepare for Cold Weather

WILMINGTON -- Pull out the blankets, get the logs ready for the fireplace, get those plants, and pets inside.

It's going to be frigid out tonight, with temperatures dropping below freezing.

That means local homeless shelters are making room to house people that don't have a place to get out of the cold.

You can already feel the temperature dropping outside.

While we had some unseasonable weather recently, the colder temperatures are here, and the Mercy House wants to make sure they are ready for the wintry weather.

The temperature is expected to get down to 26 , and will be below freezing for at least 6 hours.

Officials at the shelter say with the additional 9 beds they have enough room for 44 people to sleep tonight, and hopes they are all full, so no one has to be outside when the temperature is in the 20's.
