BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- It was cheers for the cheerleaders Friday at Roger Bacon Academy.
Two squads have qualified to compete in the cheerleading national championship at Disney World. There was a pep rally at the school to send them off. The cheerleaders fired up the crowd by performing routines for their classmates.
To qualify for the championship, both squads won the eight-state regional competition in Charlotte.
This will be the younger squad's first year going to nationals and one member says it's been a whirlwind since their last win.
"They announced first, I'm like 'woo hoo' and me and my friend went up and got the trophy and went to my mom and were like, we're going to Disney World! And I just started crying," says Jocelyn Pruneau.
Both squads will be up against about 20 other teams from around the nation next week in Orlando.
