-- The concrete walls of the old Wal-Mart store in Monkey Junction are tumbling down.
Once the section of Myrtle Grove Shopping Center is demolished and the rubble cleared, it will be the site of a Home Depot store, the second in Wilmington.
Only part of the shopping center is being flattened. The section that includes the Dock Street Restaurant will remain.
Merchants say the road blocks and detours are making it hard to do business in the shopping center.
"I think people see it all demolished here and figure everything's closed along this section here. At night time with the fences up it's kind of a maze to try and get in here. People aren't going to go through all that just to shop at Hallmark," says employee Nancy Cronin.
The new building is expected to be finished in about five months.
