WILMINGTON -- Someone in North Carolina could be sitting on $74 million.
A winning powerball ticket was sold Wednesday night in Halifax County, that's right near the Virginia border.
If the ticket holder is in fact from North Carolina, this will be the state's first powerball win ever.
The winner hasn't come forward yet, but lottery officials say it will most likely happen within the next week.
The winner will walk away with a lump sum of $38 million, and the seven percent will go to the state Education Lottery Fund.
