The Wilmington Sister City Commission will hold a Young Artist Competition. The theme for the competition is "Do we live in an open and accessible world for all?". Entries in Young Artists Showcase 2007 will be judged on the basis of theme interpretation, composition and originality. Competition winners will receive cash prizes up to $150 and a certificate. The competition is part of a national contest held annually by Sister Cities International(SCI). A panel of judges from SCI will review all the entries into the national competition and select 10 finalists. Each of the national finalists will receive a $300 award and a certificate.Participants must be between the ages of 13 to 18 at the time of the SCI deadline(April 30,2007) to be eligible. The SCI guidelines must be followed and are as follows: only two-dimensional artwork, no larger than 24"x30" (60 cm x75 cm), including matting is accepted;water color, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two dimensional mixed media, as well as computer generated art are all acceptable media; entries should be mounted on foam core or matted, but not framed; entries must not be plagiarized, stolen or copied from any other source; entries from previous years competitions will not be accepted; entries must not defame or invade the rights of any person, living or dead. Artwork must be hand delivered no later than February 28, 2007 to Wendy Larimer, Sister City Commission, City of Wilmington, Parks, Recreation and Downtown Services office at 302 Willard St.
