-- The Northeast Cape Fear River is finally falling, but not before forcing dozens of people out of their homes.
One Pender County man, 70-year-old Michael Crutchfield, was rescued from his home Tuesday afternoon. He says he had no other way to get out. He is the 12th person emergency services has had to rescue since the water started rising last Thursday.
Crutchfield lives on River Bend Road. He asked emergency workers to take him to dry land because his home is surrounded by water. He says he's had enough of the recurring flooding in the area, and he's planning to move.
"It's just getting to me. Twelve days the last month with the flood and now this same thing again, and it will be another three or four days before it goes down," says Crutchfield.
He plans to move to Florida after he sells his house.
