WILMINGTON -- Crews were in and out of Edinboro Road near Hewletts Creek and Holly Tree Road Saturday, cleaning up more than 70,000 gallons of raw sewage.
City officials say a blocked pipe was spilling out the smelly mess into nearby manholes.
Some of the debris clogging the pipe was rocks and soot from last week's spill in the same area.
Neighbors called the city to complain about the odor when they discovered the blockage early Saturday.
Many of the area's residents say they are fed up with the continuous sewage problems.
Officials say none of the sewage entered Hewletts Creek, and most of it should be pumped back into the manholes by Saturday night.
