WILMINGTON -- If you're driving on I-40 over the next few days, be aware of the ten mile plan.
Officials are calling it the largest coordinated effort of its kind.
State police from North Carolina all the way to California will have troopers posted along every ten miles of Interstate 40.
Troopers from all eight states along the 2,547 mile east-west corridor will participate in an effort called I-40 Care Across America. In North Carolina, it's being called "Operation Slow Down."
Hundreds of North Carolina troopers will be out for the program that is intended to reduce the number of fatalities during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Investigators say the bodies of an Iowa couple and their two children have been found in a rented condo in Mexico.
