WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH -- About 50 paddlers hit the water Saturday outside the Blockade Runner for a sea kayak race.
Kayakers could paddle either three or five miles.
Many participants said the wind and waves made the race difficult, but it was worth it.
All of the proceeds went to the North Carolina Land Trust, which preserves marshes and the coast.
This was the third year the Sea Kayak Race took place in the Banks Channel.
