HALLSBORO -- Johnny Miller says he now has regrets to go along with the criminal charges he faces for what authorities call the fake disappearance of a 15-year-old girl.

Brunswick County Sheriff Ron Hewett says Miller was with Alex Spriggs for several days and did not alert authorities.

But Miller says he did not see Spriggs until about midnight Tuesday night, three days after she went missing from her home.

"I'm sorry for making them have to look, but I was scared at the time," Miller said. "I didn't know what to do. She kept telling me that she was threatening to take her life or running away again and not letting nobody know where she was at."

Miller says Spriggs left for Alabama with her father and he is not sure if he'll ever see her again.
