Boyfriend Facing Charges in Kidnapping Hoax

BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- An Amber Alert and an extensive search is over for 15-year-old Alex Spriggs, a teenager from Brunswick County who was missing since Sunday.

She's safe with her family now, and authorities say she was with her boyfriend the entire time.

Johnny Miller, 17, is in the Brunswick County Jail under a $2,500 bond.

Brunswick County Sheriff Ron Hewett says "Miller lied to law enforcement saying he and his family had not seen Spriggs since she went missing."

Ten different law enforcement agencies were involved in the search, and thousands of dollars were spent trying to find Spriggs.

Their first suspect was a man seen from surveillance video in an Exxon gas station. Spriggs left in his truck, and law enforcement officers were able to track the man down in South Carolina. The man says he dropped the girl off at her boyfriend's house is Hallsboro.

Hewett says they found Spriggs with Miller's family, and Miller was arrested Wednesday night.
