COLUMBUS COUNTY - Authorities have found a 15-year-old girl who disappeared Sunday, and it turns out she was never really missing at all.
Officials issued an AMBER Alert on Wednesday, fearing for the safety of Alex Elizabeth Spriggs. They cancelled the alert late Wednesday night when they found her safe at a home with her boyfriend.
The boyfriend, 17-year-old Johnny Miller, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice. Authorities say Spriggs will not face charges, and she is currently staying with her father.
Spriggs left her home early Sunday morning and walked to a gas station off N.C. 87 and U.S. 17 in Brunswick County, authorities said.
She waited there for 14 hours, trying to find a ride to her boyfriend's house, before surveillance video shows she left with a man in a pick-up truck.
Authorities originally worried about the intentions of the man in the truck, but when they located and talked to him, they learned he had dropped her off at a home in Hallsboro with a young man she called her boyfriend.
