BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- What looked like a murder mystery turned out to be a missing person case, as the skeletal remains found in Brunswick County on August 30 were identified.
The remains found in Thick Woods near Calabash were identified as the body of Johnny Brown, 41, of Myrtle Beach, authorities said.
Brown was reported missing from Myrtle Beach on April 21.
Authorities have not determined a cause of death, but medical examiners said there was no sign of trauma or foul play.
Brown had a history of drug abuse.
